AfterShip Personalization's integration with Yotpo injects review ratings and personalizes product offerings automatically. Brands can boost conversions automatically while maximizing product recommendation relevancy.

Prerequisites



Before integrating Yotpo with AfterShip Personalization, ensure

You have an active Yotpo Reviews account.
Your Shopify store is connected to your Yotpo account.
The Reviews/Star widget is published correctly on your store. Learn how to install review and star widget on your Shopify Theme 2.0 here.
If you are using a Shopify Vintage theme, ensure your Shopify store's main JavaScript code includes your Yopto account's app key.

In the next three sections we have explained how to check your Shopify Store's Vintage theme's JavaScript code to ensure it contains the Yotpo script with the app key so that Yopto's review and star widgets start displaying on the pages where you have published them. You need to do it manually.


1. To check the JavaScript code, follow the steps below.


Log in to your Shopify account.
Go to Online Store > Themes.
Click Actions > Edit code.
Locate the theme.liquid file.
Ensure the Yotpo script is present and includes your app key. The script should look like this:

Replace ##APP_KEY## with your Yotpo app key.


2. To add the Yotpo script in your Shopify theme.file.


If the Yopto script is not present in your Shopify theme code, here's how to add the script in the theme.liquid file.

Log in to your Shopify account.
Go to Online Store > Themes.
Click Actions > Edit code.
Under Layouts, find and open theme.liquid.
Paste the script right above the </head> tag.
Replace ##APP_KEY## with your Yotpo app key.
Click Save.




3. To find your Yotpo app key, follow these steps:


In Yotpo Reviews, click the Profile icon at the top right corner.
Select Account Settings > General Settings.
You'll find your App Key at the bottom of the General Settings section.
Copy the app key and replace it in the Step 6 of Section 2 above.



If you have correctly followed the requirements above, the Yotpo review/star widget on your Shopify store would like something like this on your store.



Set up Yotpo integration in AfterShip Personalization



Step 1: Connect Yotpo with AfterShip Personalization


Log in to your AfterShip Personalization admin dashboard.
Go to the Apps section, View more apps.
Select Yotpo from the AfterShip Personalization’s integration list.
Click Install app on the Yotpo integration page and select the organization (store) for which you’d like to install the app.



Log in to your Yotpo account, if you aren't already logged in.
Read through the authorization policy and the data you are allowing AfterShip to access from your Yotpo account and click Connect.



You will be connected with Yotpo reviews successfully. You can see the connection under the Integrations section of Yotpo.



You can also view the connection under the Apps section of AfterShip Personalization.



Select store to sync Yotpo data



Once the connection is established between your Yotpo account and AfterShip Personalization, there is one more step to confirm connection.

Go to the Apps section of your AfterShip Personalization admin.
Click Store connections for Yotpo.
Click Actions > Configure.
Select the store to sync your Yotpo customer data to AfterShip Personalization and click Submit.



Step 2: Enable Yotpo product reviews


Once the connection is enabled, go to the scenario (post or pre-purchase) where you’d like to display Yotpo product star ratings and review count with product recommendations.

Let's take the example of Order status page scenario where the product the product recommendations will be displayed to customers on their order status page.

Go to Smart checkout > Checkout page in your AfterShip Personalization admin.
Create a new smart offer or edit the existing one to display the product recommendation options on your customer's order status page.
If you are editing the existing offer, click Edit to access the offer editor.
Configure the Settings and Style settings of the offer as per your requirement.
Move to the Display tab on the product recommendation offer editor and select Product reviews, then Yotpo as source under Product info section.


Customize reviews theme



You can customize the theme of the reviews displayed below your product recommendations if Product Reviews is enabled in the Product Info section of your campaign.

The style settings will apply to your smart upsell widgets, as well as checkout and post-purchase offers.
These settings are also compatible with product review sections integrated with AfterShip Reviews, Okendo, Yotpo, and Judge.me.

To manage the style of the product review section on your cross-sell and upsell offers, follow the steps below.

Go to your AfterShip Personalization Settings.
Navigate to Themes.
In the Reviews section, customize the start rating and the review count color as per your choice.
Save the changes.



Customer experience



If a product has associated reviews and Yotpo is selected as the review source under the widget settings, AfterShip Personalization will display the star rating and the number of reviews below each recommended product.

For example, on the Order status page, the product recommendations section will include both the star ratings and review counts, providing social proof directly beneath each recommended item.

1. Why can’t I see star ratings and review counts under my product recommendations?



If you can’t see star ratings and review counts under your product recommendations:

Ensure that Yotpo Product Reviews is enabled under the Product Info section in the campaign editor.
Check if the products you’ve selected or recommended have active, published reviews and star ratings generated via Yotpo.

2. Why is the Yotpo product reviews option greyed out, even after connecting with AfterShip Personalization?



Once you’ve connected Yotpo reviews with AfterShip Personalization, make sure you’ve selected the correct store under Yotpo’s store connections. This ensures that Yotpo’s customer data syncs properly with AfterShip Personalization. Learn more >
