Add Cross-Sell Widget to Thank You Page

Overview


A cross-sell widget enables merchants to showcase related or complementary products to customers and boost sales. With AfterShip Personalization, you can easily create and customize these widgets and add them to different pages, including the thank you page. This article explains how to create a cross-sell widget on the thank you page and install it on Shopify.

Create a cross-sell widget for Thank you page


  1. Navigate to the Smart solutions in the AfterShip Personalization admin.
  2. Click Checkout and go to the Thank you page.
  3. To begin, click Create offer.



  1. The widget is created. Begin to customize.


Widget customization options and settings


Once the widget is created, you will see three tabs for customization, each with multiple options.



1. Settings


  1. Status: Change the default Disabled status to Enabled.
  2. Product recommendations: Select a pre-made strategy for product recommendation or click Edit for a new custom rule.
  3. Offer promotion: Create and display relevant offers or discounts to encourage customers to buy more.
  4. Installation: Copy code to install the widget in the Thank you page, afterwards.


2. Display


  1. Widget: Customize widget borders and padding for displaying the widget on mobile and desktop.
  2. Widget title: Add desired title for widget or ask AI to write. Set title alignment and spacing. 
  3. Product layout: Style product layout for mobile and desktop by specifying column, the number of products, and their appearance. 
  4. Product content: Choose how and what product details you want to showcase, including:


  • Product image source, ratio, border, and radius.
  • Choose multiple content to show, like name, description, price, etc.
  • Set the alignment of products in the cross-sell widget.
  • Select variants and set preferences from preselections.
  • Customize button text, choose its action, and radius.


3. Styles


  • The cross-sell widget will auto-sync with your Shopify store and match its theme.
  • You still have choices to adjust the colors and fonts of this widget.


Check your store after saving the edits.


Add the cross-sell widget on Shopify


  1. Go to Settings on the customization page.
  2. Ensure the status is changed to ‘Enable’ and click Save.



  1. Scroll to installation and click Copy ID. 
  2. Click and open the Shopify checkout editor.



  1. Add the AfterShip Personalization app and paste the code.
  2. Click Save to apply the widget to your Thank You page.

Set up A/B Testing


A/B testing lets you show two different versions of product recommendations to customers. Half of your visitors see one version, and the other half see another. This helps you compare which version gets more sales or a higher order value. As you have already customized version A with the steps above, proceed with version B:


  1. Click Create A/B test.
  2. Choose how you want to create version B.



  1. Move the slider to set how often each version is shown.



  1. Customize widget version B accordingly. 
  2. Copy the code and install the widget on the Shopify store.
